AND THE WHOLE PROCESS
OF CREATION
Every painting is created by hand in Regina, Saskatchewan — acrylic on canvas, often on round canvases. Many of my works are painted in the Petrykivka technique, a traditional Ukrainian decorative painting, combined with my love of nature and flowers.
INSPIRATION
Every painting begins with something I love: a flower, a bird, the prairie sky or a symbol of home. Nature — and flowers above all — inspires most of my work, while my Ukrainian heritage gives it its language of colour and ornament.

THE PETRYKIVKA TRADITION
Petrykivka painting comes from the village of Petrykivka in Ukraine. It was once painted on the walls of village houses, around windows and doors, as protection from misfortune, and later moved onto household objects, paper and canvas. In 2013 it was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Its flowers, birds and fine feather-like lines are painted freehand — with brush strokes and even fingertips.

BY HAND, STROKE BY STROKE
I paint with acrylics, building every ornament from individual brush strokes and small details, layer by layer. Each work is an original painting, signed by me — one canvas, one story.
